The Mane Clip as a Ponytail Extender
|
 |
Slick your hair back into a tight ponytail with a thin elastic rubberband, thread or a thin piece of hair extension/weave. |
 |
Turn the Mane clip upside down and lift the bottom and middle members. |
 |
Depending on how thick the weft is, fold a 24-48 inch wide piece of hair weave
(from our do-it-yourself kit or from a local beauty supply store) between the two rows of teeth on the top member |
 |
Make sure the whole weave length (about 2 1/2 inches when folded) is evenly
spaced the whole width of the clip.
Hold the weave in place by slotting the middle member into the grove on the
top member |
 |
Turn the clip back on it's head and attach it to your hair by sliding and sinking the front teeth of the top member over the base of your ponytail in front of the thin elastic band/thread/hair extension/weave. This way the thin elastic band/thread/hair extension/weave sits under the middle member. |
 |
Make sure the base of your ponytail sits in the groove of the lower member.
Close the clip and let the weave on the top member fall over your ponytail |
|
 |
To create a chignon, perform steps A through D. Hold the Mane clip and extension
in your hand with the clip end facing you |
 |
Attach the clip to your hair backwards, i.e with the hair extension/weave against your head. |
 |
Slide and sink the back teeth on the top member over and in front of your ponytail.
Make sure that the thin elastic/thread/hair extensions/weave sits under the middle member and the base of your ponytail sits in the groove on the lower member. Close the clip.
Divide the hair extensions into two sections --- left and right. |
 |
Now wrap the right section below and around the left side of the clip. Hold the extension in place with a small comb or a decorative clip. Repeat the same for the left side. |
The Mane clip as a Barrette for Thick and/or Long Hair
|
|
The Mane Clip by virtue of its size is considered a large barrette and is great for thick and/or long hair.
The Ponytail
- Hold your hair into a tight ponytail with one hand and with the other hand clip the Mane clip to the base of your hair to hold it.
The Chignon
- To create a chignon with thick and/ or long hair, perform steps A and B.
- 4 inches from the base of your ponytail, the Mane Clip upside down, insert the part of your hair that extends beyond the elastic band/thread/hair extension/weave between the top and middle members of the Mane Clip.
- Hold your hair in place by slotting the middle member into the groove on the top member.
- Turn the Mane Clip on its head and with your hair still in place, slide and sink in the front teeth on the top member over and in front of the elastic band/thread/hair extension/weave.
- Close the clip with the base of your ponytail sitting in the groove on the lower member
- Divide the hair that extends beyond the Mane Clip into two sections -----left and right.
- Wrap the right section below and around the left side of of the clip. Hold it in place with a small barrette or clip. Do the same to the left side

Getting the Most out of the Mane Clip
|
- To start using the Mane clip, place your thumb on the hinge end of the top member and your index and middle fingers on the clip end. Squeeze to open the clip.
- For Jerry curls, spiral curls or deep wave extensions, teasing the curls with a wide tooth
comb will increase the volume of hair. The fuller the hair the better the look.
- The shinier your hair the healthier it looks. Using a moisturiser or conditioning sheen or gel (e.g the Mane sheen) on your hair before slicking it into a ponytail gives your hair a glossy
sheen not unlike the sheen of hair extensions.
- Always buy hair extensions/weaves closest to your hair texture and hair color. The same
col or and texture helps create the impression of one glossy mane of hair.
|
Getting the Most Out of Your Hair Extension
|
- Always gently wash and rinse in lukewarm water.
- Always use a mild shampoo and conditioner.
- Pat dry and comb through hair gently, starting from the lower ends.
- Let hair dry naturally then comb into desired style. For curly or wavy hair extensions, curls
or waves will fully return when hair is completely dry.
- For extra shine, spray hair lightly with a quality hair sheen.
